First Day of Preschool

My mother-in-law was right. When Ben was tiny, she told me to not wish away the time because "they're only babies for five seconds and then you're sending them off to kindergarten." We're not quite to kindergarten yet, but I can't believe that I have a three-year-old starting preschool. Today was his first day at the Hilliard United Methodist Preschool and I did get misty-eyed as he walked in with his little backpack and new shoes. Annette (my M-I-L) has been watching Ben for the last week while we were out of town and got to drop him off with me before I took her to the airport.

Above: Ben and Grandma walking into school.

Ben and his new Wall*E shoes that he picked out just for the occasion. Between the shoes and his Lightning McQueen backpake, we are a walking Disney billboard.

Hanging up his backpack in his cubby.
Comparing Cars backpacks with his good friend Tyler.
Ben and Tyler below. Ben actually calls him "Ty-lah" because that's how one of their other friends pronounces his name.
This was when I got choked up: Seeing him so big with his nametag and school haircut that Annette took him to get while we were gone.
He was not at all sad when we left. He and Tyler discovered the cars and racing ramp and were as happy as could be.

Alright, I'm gonna say it, this post makes me want my own baby to drop off at preschool! I'll deny I said it if you tell anyone. Okay, really I was just hoping that Benji would become mine through that very legally binding will of an email you sent out. I love that not so baby monster!
P.S. Randy and I decided we need daily pictures of that big boy. Phone calls will suffice as well.

Leslie turns 9 months old next week and I can hardly believe how time has flown, either. Or how much she has learned.

We're a ways off of preschool, but it's wild how quick life progresses.

She's getting very crafty, and she's crazy strong-willed. She's learning to say a few words, and when I'm not around apparently does a couple of signs (she pays rapt attention to the Signing Time DVD).

Only 4 more second until preschool. Where did our baby go!?

We loved the HUMPS (is that REALLY the acronym? I must be getting something wrong). So great that he has tyler with him. It eases the transition for everyone.

How was your trip?
