But now that we're here and have talked to Ben on the phone enough to know that he doesn't miss us at all (they went to Wheeler Farm and saw Wall*E yesterday and are going to the zoo today), it's much easier.
So then on to the next question: What to do for an entire week? At first I was bummed that Andy had to go back to work (I thought we should head to an exotic locale), but now I'm glad that I can catch up on projects that I've been meaning to do, but haven't had the time. Plus, we're going to explore Columbus like visitors and see all the things you can't quite do with an energetic toddler.
On my list: Run errands to my heart's content interspersed with some fun shopping, check out a few fabulous books on tape to listen to while I do unexciting cleaning projects (wash the baseboards, mop the floors, clean the cupboards, and shampoo our carpets), head back to Ikea to return items that didn't work, take long walks with Andy, watch movies together, go out for dinner once, attend the temple, read to my heart's content (at least one day spent on a blanket in the park), organize Ben's clothes/books/toys, go to some art museums, and see the Jack Nicklaus golf museum (Andy's choice). Any other ideas?
What would you do with a kid-free week?
Below are pictures of the few times in the past three years we have been without Ben for an extended period of time.
Nine months pregnant and 100+ degrees in Arizona= Looking like crapola.
Our trip to Carmel, CA with Andy's parents before Ben was born. Heaven on earth for Andy because in the background is Pebble Beach Golf Course, a.k.a. Golfing Mecca.
Our graduation trip last year to Hawaii with our friends Mandy and Steve Morgan.

Hmmm...I would sleep. It was so nice to see you both!
Sounds like you've got a great plan! If it were me, I'd squeeze in night tennis games, Shakespeare in the park (German Village), maybe an evening at Alum Creek Reservoir with just you two... live it up baby!
Is Annette going to fly back to C-bus w/Ben?
It was so bizarre to see you calmly sitting in the chapel the entire sacrament meeting on Sun :)
i saw that first picture of you pregnant before i read your post and thought it was a CURRENT picture, so i was thinking, "how in the world is she THAT pregnant right now when the last few pictures i saw of her she had a flat stomach?"
Oh, I'm truly almost salivating at your good luck! I know, it's always hard to say goodbye to the little ones, but then the week of fun begins and the sadness fades...into a joyous mix of elation and relaxation! The day in the park with a blanket and a good book sounds like Heaven. Have a WONDERFUL week.
And sleep in every day!
P.S. Don't you just love Steinbeck? He was my favorite author in high school. Haven't read East of Eden yet. Have to put that on my list.
P.S. does it make me a bad mother that i don't cry when i leave my kids?
I would love to sleep until I'm done sleeping! No alarms or crying. Just done sleeping. (That might take up a full day for me at this point!) My only other suggestion that's not on your list is what I mentioned while we were shopping.........How is it that I'm the first one to imply such a thing!?!
Whatever you do, enjoy it! And if you get to missing Ben too badly, give me a call and I'll run down the street to kiss him for you!
So fun to see you! Let's do it again before a full year passes this time!
you guys could head to cedar point or hocking hills for a getaway... we have enjoyed those!
i just envy the words "kidless for a week".
Story of my life.
Oh, I wish I would have checked this at the time you posted. We were out in Utah with Madi and I'm sure she would have loved to see Ben for an hour at a playground or something. Shoot.
Dang, I bet the week was awesome. I had a weekend while out in Utah with my mom/sisters/sister-in-law and NO KIDS! We talked and shopped and watched movies and slept in. It was wonderful. I bet you were happy to see him, though.
