I am Mother, Hear Me Roar

Just got notice that one of the most controversial and hyped books of 2011 is waiting on reserve at the library. Hooray! I can hardly wait to dig in to form my own opinion of the simultaneously loathed and revered Madame Chua.

If you're curious, here's the article from the WSJ that started it all: "Why Chinese Mothers are Superior." The excerpt that sparked a million conversations, news stories, and blog posts heard around the world regarding her ideas on rigid Eastern vs. lax Western parenting styles.

Will you be reading this book? What do you think of her premise or parenting tactics?

I am on the waiting list at the library as well. We can discuss. I'm only a few hundred down the list I believe.

I'm twenty-fifth on the waiting list. Boo. Based on her interviews, I'm on Team Tiger Mom.

We discussed the article for a Mother's lunch that I hosted. It was a very interesting discussion. I need to read the book.

I actually just saw an interview with her husband and hadn't heard of her before but it would make for a killer book group.
