The Bare Necessities

Because this was yesterday's weather forecast for today and everything is now under a thick sheet of ice,

we made a quick trip into the grocery store to get some basics in case we wouldn't be able to go out again for another couple of days. Obviously, we weren't the only ones with that idea. When one woman asked a shelf stocker about being out of bananas, he said they had four times their normal daily sales volume in anticipation of the severe storm. All around us, fellow shoppers loaded their baskets with milk, eggs, bread, fruit, cereal, TV dinners, and other comfort foods. As we got into the line to check out, I had to smile when the woman in front of us emptied the contents of her cart. It consisted solely of:

A case of white wine...

And a bottle of whiskey.

Whatever gets you through.

Are you buried under a winter storm? Do you still have to go into work? What are your favorite ways to hunker down?

Happy February!

Melinda, I didn't want to mention any names, but since you bring it up...I had no idea the transition to two kids would drive you to the drink. :)

Jess, you might just find me on your doorstep soon.

Bex, speaking of, when do you want to book your ticket from sunny Phoenix to icy Ohio? The end of Feb. is looking wide open. :)
