Swingers

Before I continue, I just wanted to post a picture of some of our roses, which have bloomed beautifully this year. In Ohio we grow a different variety than in the West, called Knockout roses. Everywhere I see them growing they live up to their name.

I'm happy to report that Operation Swingset was a major success. I think renting the 16 foot truck was the most difficult part since it required two adults driving a car, the beast, and three children. Thanks to the Debster for helping me out on such short notice! Once that was done, the whole process of picking up, disassembling, loading, unloading, and reassembling the structure took a total of (wait for it...): one hour. From start to eating cookies and the men chatting at the end. Definitely not as bad as expected, which was a relief for all involved. Ben spent the day eyeing the snickerdoodles I made as a treat. Not long after Andy left, I told Ben he could eat one once the men returned, thinking it would be a few hours. Only a few minutes later they drove up and he was thrilled to get his cookie and a Gatorade like the rest of the dads. Thanks a million to all who helped, as you can see the kiddos love their new toy. It's so nice for Ben to have somewhere to work off some energy while the adults sit on the patio and chat.

King of the castle.

Miss Lucy in her baby swing. You can see her latest project: Growing two new teeth.

Our neighbors let us pull the truck into their driveway so they could unload right next to where we wanted it to go. This swingset is now third hand and I hope it still has many good years left in it. I like it because it's just the right size for our small backyard. This summer we'll finally be able to host people for outdoor lunches and parties since there's finally something to do here!

1 hour? That's amazing. Good work Andy and friends.

I'm glad the nickname is catching on. Could we put an "Incredible" in front of it? That might just make it stick.

Always glad to help, and glad that it was so much easier than expected!

I bet Nollie is as happy as Ben about the set. This is the next best thing to the fence, so, it is close enough!!

When I read this title I was scared. HA HA.

I'm just glad that this means you won't be trying to find another back yard for awhile.:)

I just noticed that you're reading a book by Jeanette Walls. I haven't read that one, but I did read her memoir called the Glass Castle and really enjoyed it! Is this one good too?
