Sent From My iPad

Aah, Apple. The ubiquitous technology and lifestyle brand that, love them or hate them, is the dominant player in the infotainment market. iTunes is the main seller of digital music, but the files don't convert well to other formats or devices. Apple has also outlawed Adobe Flash on their gadgets so companies have been forced to totally revamp their web content so as to be viewable on iPods, iPads, etc.
I've always secretly liked their products, full of sleek design and crisp graphics, but don't own anything more than the basic ghetto 2 GB iPod because I choose to limit technology's encroachment into my life. But this article I read today entitled Steve Jobs in the Garden of Good and Evil made me want to go out and buy Apple products because their CEO (the aforementioned Jobs) has openly taken a stand against allowing pornography and other inappropriate content into their apps store. This, of course, raised a backlash from people who argue the Internet is about freedom, so Apple's decision to figuratively sanitize its Apps Store infringes on people's First Amendment rights. But as the author wrote, "What a peculiar - and peculiarly modern - controversy. Is it really such an affront to the rights of those who would buy and sell pornography that someone might want the right to choose not to?"
Kudos to Apple for using their might in a positive way to have at least a safer place to get information and content.
Are you an Apple user? What products do you have and how do they improve your life? We've been debating whether to make our next computer an iMac since this old laptop is about to bite the dust.

Dan swears by Macs, I prefer a good ol PC. My school district had macs. They're fine, it just takes some getting used to. I've heard you can split your hard drive to run windows and mac.

We are HUGE apple fans. Aaron wishes I'd break down and let him buy an ipad. I almost gave in for my birthday.

It's true. There is a software program that lets you have both a Mac OS and Windows XP on your MacBook. My friend had it on hers at school this year. I think MacBook laptops are really nice, easy to use computers and I always liked to play on my friend's and I like Kira's ipod touch too. I am partial to PCs just because of lifelong familiarity but I think Macs have pretty user friendly interfaces overall. I do hate iTunes though. Not a great program in my opinion, but whatevs. I'm just bitter because it took me an hour of finagling and 2 more hours to load an audiobook on Nanette's ipod last night. The whole AAC file format is ridiculous and annoying. Apple is trying to rule the world and make everyone answer to it! That being said, I still secretly wish I owned all their sophisticated and sleek products, too.

We have a mac and love it! When our computer died 3 years ago when we lived in Columbus, Tim really really wanted a mac, but I was not quite sure. I am glad he convinced me.. and we will never go back to a PC again. Too many great features to make your life easiser.

I must say having our iPod touch is really nice..
It's the closest thing we'll get to iPhones since
we're too cheap/poor to shell out for the data plans.
I feel like apple products provide function in a
luxurious way. Recently I've taken to cooking
from recipes that I just have in front of me on
the touch. So convenient! And yes, this comment
was posted from my iPod touch!

Macs are so much better than PCs! My Dell laptop died around finals time during my first year of B-school (I had been getting plenty of the "blue screen of death" before that, so I should have known). Chris convinced me to get a Mac and let me tell you--it NEVER crashes. That alone is worth the price.

Full disclosure: our house is FULL of Apple products--Chris has been an avid fan since he worked in a computer store when he was a teenager in the early 80s...what can I say, we're geeks around here. But geeks with style.
