We're excited to announce that Lucy Jane Haws has joined our little family. She was born on Thursday, Aug. 20, at 8:17 p.m. after a long day of labor. I went in to be induced a week early, but it ended up taking a while for a variety of reasons. We ended up waiting around for much of the day. Andy watched golf and I dozed. The baby's heart rate was low and my blood pressure was low so the docs stopped the pitocin after a few hours then we had to wait while they made their decision whether she was okay and then to restart the pitocin. I got the epidural, but half of it wore off so I had to get another dose, leaving one leg totally dead for four hours after the delivery. All in all, things turned out well and we're glad to have her here.
We went in with this...
And came out with this. She weighed exactly 8 lbs. and was 22 inches long with a 13" head. Another big Haws noggin.
Tired baby and Daddy.
Ben's favorite part of the visit was coloring on the nurses' message board and watching the Golf Channel with Andy.
The Haws boys and little Lucy.Of course my camera batteries died so I don't have many good pictures of her. They're all on Andy's Blackberry so I'll try and get those off soon and post more. Thanks to everyone for your concern and support, we came home this morning and look forward to this new chapter in our lives. We think Lucy might have her days and nights mixed up, so that could be quite an adventure. Any advice??

congrats, you guys! she is beautiful. hope the adjusting for all is going well.:)
Congratulations!
I heard you were going to be induced from Brit. Glad she is here!
You (and she) look sOOOO beautiful and amazing. It is a special (but exhausting) time. But it goes quickly so just enjoy the newborn stage.
Also--"Baby Whisperer" is all I can say for advice: Waking her up during the day and trying to keep her awake with a bath or changing her clothes etc. And keeping her on a schedule for feeding of not more than every 3 hours during the day so she goes longer between feeds (in theory) at night.
Love you Nollie!

Congrats Nollie and Andy! She's so cute! Tyler saw the pics as well and said, "Oh what a great day for Ben!" We agree. Siblings are great (even when the younger one is being sat on, like what is happening at our house right now!)
Beautiful girl!! Congratulations! I'll give you a call soon!
! Congrats to all! A lot of babies have their days & nights reversed. I tried to not use eye contact or talking in the the night. And lots in the day to help her adjust. Can't wait to take your pictures. Let me know when . . .
I love your family picture! Can't wait to see you all on Friday! Congratulations!
What great news! Congrats!!! She is beautiful, and you look great already!! We are so happy for you. Ben is going to love being a big brother. You'll be grateful for a little helper, too! So glad everything went well. It's always a relief to have these precious little ones here safe and sound!

i love the name lucy (obviously)! i've been waiting for this post! i'm so glad that all is well. she is adorable and perfect! you look fabulous! congrats to all of you! xo
LOVE her name!!! Congrats to all of you.
I second the comment about putting her on a strict feeding schedule--never let her go more than three hours between feedings and that should kick her into gear soon enough. We did that with Alice and she was sleeping through the night at 7 weeks.
Good luck!
OH! I'm so excited for you! What a blessed and lucky little girl. Congrats!
Hooray! Congratulations! I am so happy for you, and of course, I LOVE her name! Welcome little Lucy! You're part of a wonderful family!
Congrats on your beautiful new addition!
Nollie, congratulations to all of you!! You look absolutely fabulous- Kurt said he couldn't even tell you just had a baby! I love the name, she looks adorable, and hooray that you got her out at 8 lbs, right? :)
I second the suggestion of Baby Whisperer. It's like Baby Wise, but not so rigid. It helped both Max and Becca sleep through the night early...Good luck! You'll look at these in a month and remember how fast it goes.
I wish we lived closer. We sure miss you guys!
