Aargh!!! I waited too long to sign Ben up for the Hilliard City Preschool program and now there's basically no chance he'll get in. It's a really high demand program because the curriculum is good and it's four days/week for only $100 since it's partly subsidized by property taxes. So now I have to scramble and find something else that will be twice as expensive, farther away (the HCSD preschool is literally a mile down the road), and with none of his friends. Why am I such a slacker????? I hesitated because it's four days a week and I worried that it might be too much, but can see now that Ben would do just fine.
Wanted: School suggestions/ideas from the locals. Or from those of you who live farther away, what did you do for preschool for your kid(s)? Was it as ridiculously expensive as I feel like private preschool is?

Oh Nollie, that's too bad. Maybe just sign up and see if a spot opens up. I don't blame you for not wanting to do our preschool again. I don't think I would either. Ask Heather Teeples about the preschool she had Isaac in last year. She liked it.
Would Joy School work? It is, or at least was back in the day, a co-op style preschool run by mothers of the kids. The lessons were prepared and came with music tapes, snack & craft suggestions and other ideas. The week you taught was crazy wild, but then there were 5-6 weeks of blissful peace - and the kids loved it! The price has undoubtedly changed, but it was reasonable at the time. Good luck finding something.
Nollie - I just came across your blog and had to leave a post. It was fun to see your family and see how you are. Are you guys in DC? We just moved from Richmond to Iowa City (for orthodontic residency). Anyway, check out our blog if you get a second (guymonadventure.blogspot.com). Hope you and Andy are doing well!

it is definitely expensive. berkeley goes 3 mornings a week (9 am to 1 pm) and it is $215 per month. but she loves it and i love it since it keeps me sane, so it's worth it. $100 for an great program would have been a killer deal. is there any way you can still get in?
Let me know what you end up doing...I cant send Jansen to that preschool either since we are in Columbus school district. I'm bummed too. I'll have to do some more looking...thankfully it's just preschool. They'll all learn to read, write, etc. eventually so just make sure it's a happy choice for both of you!
Joyschool is still around--there's a group or two that meet in our ward out here. DB goes to a church (Methodist) preschool--churches can be a better deal sometimes--that is considered affordable for our area. It's expensive when you compare it to any normal town though--$190/month for 5 hours/week. Ouch.
Hey Nollie, I would definitely still sign up . . . you never know how many spots will open up over the summer. Good luck!
