I'm not sure anyone actually reads this blog anymore since it's been so woefully neglected over the past months due to a number of factors, one big one being that I can't find the battery charger for my camera and it's dead with no hope of revival. Nevertheless, even without photo documentation, life chugs on. We have a few things happening that some would consider newsworthy, so I thought we'd share.
1. We were lucky to have three weeks worth of visitors in March/April and got to see a grandma, aunties, uncles, and cousins. Busy, but fun. More on that later.
2. I was asked to be the president of our church congregation's women's organization. I'm sad to no longer get to teach Sunday School, which I loved, but am excited for the new challenge. Thank goodness for capable people to assist and help compensate for my shortfalls.
3. Right before the visitors and new responsibilities, I found out that I am pregnant. A big surprise, since I had been to a fertility specialist just the week before to set up a plan for fertility treatments. The doctor ordered me to get an MRI of my thyroid as standard procedure, and since we have a high deductible health plan and would have had to pay $900 out of pocket, I took a pregnancy test just to reassure myself that the price would be worth it. Imagine my utter shock at seeing the little "+" sign staring back at me. So now we just get to pay the $900+ to our OB. :) Thanks to our visitors for putting up with me while I was terribly sick and unable to do anything besides sit on the couch and try not to puke. "Try" being the operative word. I'm now 13.5 weeks along and it's impossible to hide the fact that there's a baby on board. As any of you who've witnessed me pregnant know, I have a torpedo belly. You can see the tiny baby bump in the picture below when we took cupcakes into Ben's class last Friday for his birthday.
4. Knowing that we'll have another little Hawsling this November, we swallowed our egos and are surrendering to the inevitability of becoming the ultimate suburbanites. We are selling one black Honda and and recently bought another.
5. Behold, the newest addition to our family: a Honda Odyssey. Ben has been DYING to have a van for ages, so he finally gets his wish. Just in time for his 7th birthday. While Ben wasn't picky, I had very specific criteria for becoming a van mom. Although technically we don't need the extra room for another six months, after exhaustive research, we found a deal that was too good to pass up with everything we were looking for, and a bit more. The van is still at the dealership getting some last-minute detailing and we'll get it later this week. If you know anyone in OH who's in the market for a 2005 Honda Accord, point them our way.
So that's what's happening in our neck of the woods. For some reason even though this is also a public forum, I wanted to publish the news here first rather than on Facebook, which still somehow feels less intimate to me. But enough about us. What's happening with you? Drop a comment and say hello. :)

That's just awesome news. What a funny little story too. Hope you start feeling better soon.
I'm so excited for another Hawslette! Also, I think to really get the full effect of all this good news, I'm gonna need a picture of you rollin' in that minivan, sporting the baby bump, while on your way to some relief society biznass. The trifecta of greatness.
Congratulations Haws family! That van is a sexy beast. My blog is ridiculously neglected. I always tell myself I'm going to update it but have nothing to say. :0 Love you guys!
I'm a little sad that you won't have a swagger wagon b/c only the coolest people have one of those. That's ok, you can be in the 2nd coolest group!
Congratulations!!!! You are already looking ADORABLE!!! How exciting to add number 3. Good luck with your pregnancy...I hope you feel better soon.
Soooooo awesome. I'm so excited for you. A new little one on the way....a big new van...and a new calling. Wow.
Congratulations! You only show so early because you are so thin and tiny. I hope the sickness passes soon. Also, did I catch that you are the new RS pres? WOW! That is a lot on your plate, but if there is anyone who can handle it, it is Ms. Nollie H!
Congrats, I love reading your blog, it is so fun to watch your family grow. Love the little baby bump!
congrats on all of the above, especially baby! i didn't know! such wonderful news! xoxo, miss you!
Congratulations!! On the baby. The other stuff is fun too, but you know why all the congrats. And as far as being RS pres.--you will be amazing. Wish I could be there to see you in your element. I can imagine you on the gen'l RS board someday. ;)
Love you!
Congrats Nollie! (and fam) very exciting! We have loved our odyssey.. our accord graduated to Tim and we sold his civic. I swear, we have owned just about every honda out there.. LOL
We are moving to Cinci in mid July and then a trip out to Utah following that. We would love to get together once we get settled.
Congrats on your pregnancy. When is baby due?
wow..that IS exciting news..rs pres and pregnant? is there anything better?! congrats and good luck with both.:)
Melissa,
The baby is due Nov. 25th and we'd love to see you guys when you're back in the great state of OH!
Congrats on baby #3! We purchased our mini van a year before we found out we were expecting. It is so nice to have the room. I am due with #3 in 9 weeks. It is a girl. Can't wait to find out what you are having!
Congratulations, so excited for you.
Congratulations! I'm excited for you and hope you're feeling better now. As for the car - I'm a holdout. I still drive my 2008 Accord with all 3 in the back. It's a bit of a squeeze but I found a Sunshine Kids Radian booster for Tate that fits in the middle. A little crazy but it works for now. You will be an awesome RS President! Lucky ladies in your ward :)
congrats lady! can't wait to see that bump this weekend!
Oh my gosh!!! Tons of exciting news! Congrats on all of it....the calling, the car, and especially the new baby! So awesome. I hope you're feeling better these days:). Wish I was there to talk about it all in person ..... Miss you!
Congrats Nollie!! I'm very excited for you guys! I hope you're getting over the nausea stage by now, that's the worst! Best wishes to you all!
Hooray! We are very excited for you. I hope you are feeling good considering the fact that you are growing a human. :) Love the new van, too. We miss you guys but are glad life is treating you well!
Update this smack. I need more Haws in my life. I just had to say what everyone was thinking.
