In a few weeks we'll be heading out West to celebrate the wedding of my clearly-not-ugly stepsister, Trisha. She and her Prince Charming will be married on August 5th and we're really excited for them. One Christmas when we were visiting my family in WA, Ben got to sleep in Auntie Trisha's room and I think he developed a little crush on her, so hopefully he won't be too heartbroken. We'll meet Brent for the first time at the wedding, so I hope he's up to inheriting a passel of energetic nieces and nephews and wacky in-laws. From all reports, he's a gem and we wish them the best.
For the record, Trisha's wedding announcement is one of the best I've seen in a long time - love the elegant pink/salmon color palette. Oh, and I get to recycle the gray dress from Kira's wedding two years ago, except this time I'll look a little different, not being 33 weeks pregnant. Chalk it up to the miracle of Spandex.
I can't wait to see family (all 20 of us are crashing at a rental house I'm affectionately dubbing the Party Pad. It has a hot tub - need I say more?), revel in the glorious humidity-free beauty of Utah in the summer (picnics up the canyon, dinners outside on the patio!), and take long morning walks with my best friend who lives just up the street from Andy's parent's.

On a tangentially related note, I've spent the last three nights staying up until at least 1 a.m. reading The Forgotten Garden. I'd heard rave reviews from numerous people, but didn't get to it until recently and devoured all 544 pages in a matter of days.
I loved how the mystery carefully unfolds, keeping you hooked, as well as the artfully woven multigenerational storyline and original fairy tales. It was reminiscent of Dickens, The Secret Garden, Wuthering Heights, and Jane Eyre, but with a very unique twist.
Have you read this yet?

That sounds like a great trip! I've now added this book to my Kindle library. I'll let you know what I think.
So fun..I bet you are looking forward to a break from the humidity. I'm interested to see the announcement..can you block out the info and show the rest? You've piqued my interest.:)
I KNEW YOU'D LIKE IT! You should read her other books too. I think The Forgotten Garden is still my favorite, but The Distant Hours is a close second, with House at Riverton coming in third. Can you tell I love Kate Morton? She is so good at giving little hints to keep you hooked without revealing any secrets until the end.
Melinda, I'm heading to the library website ASAP to reserve the others. :) Thanks for the tip and keep them coming!
My parents received the invite while I am here in Kennewick..I knew that name sounded familiar. Let me know how you like the kid listening book, it would be great if I could get my kids to listen!:)
Did read it and did love it! So, I couldn't help but think of you and your sister when Lady Beckham released their new little girl's name. Your fam is always on top of what's hot. Impressive. At least B was first!
Word.
Just finished reading it a week ago and LOVED it! I need to start on the others.
