A Few of My Favorite Things

I definitely don't have my pre-baby body back yet (yep, still in maternity clothes - shrink, uterus, shrink!!), but couldn't resist a little online shopping in anticipation of the days of normal clothes again. I've also decided to revamp my wardrobe a bit as a push present to myself, taking into account my new shape after three kids.  For me, the awkwardness of nursing boobs matched with the tummy sag of nonexistent abdominal muscles require more forgiving cuts. Plus, all my clothes are at least five years old so it's time to embrace reality.

Recovery is going well and I've been lucky to have my mom here for ten days and Andy's mom just got here for another ten. We're enjoying Lauryn, although Ben and Lucy have gone absolutely nutso. Any advice for how to handle the older ones once a new little arrives?

I've been wondering about you! Just yesterday I decided to hunt you down and ask what is going on because I've missed your posts. You really are a talented writer. Congratulations on your daughter! I am having a girl in a couple months and we're pretty excited about it- it's been ten years since our family has had a baby girl.
My only advice about the older crazies is that's really what the visitors are best at- distracting them by getting them out of the house or doing some activity, like making Christmas chains or reading books. Even trips to the library or grocery store are good diversions, especially if the weather is bad and they are wanting more excitement at home. I will be needing this come March...

Lots of TV. Lots and lots of TV. :) That is how I "cared" for Emerson while trying to figure out how to do two kids! Beyond that, I have no answers. Congrats to you guys! Lauryn sure is cute and sweet! I hope things normalize soon for you!

Our two older ones (especially the 3 year old) pulled out all the stops when the baby was born. Gavin refused to go to bed at night and came down the stairs multiple times. 3 was a hard, hard adjustment for me so I hope you find it to be easier than I did. Got to love the post baby body. All you need to worry about is making lots of milk for that cute little one. Good luck!

PBSKids and National Geographic kids computer games saved me when I had my 3rd baby. I love your haircut and I wish I was brave enough to do it!
