Yesterday I went to the grocery store and walked up to the register with 125 Dove chocolate bars. The male cashier gave me a quizzical look and after a pause commented, "Well, those will last you for a while." I laughed as I explained to him that they will be a Mother's Day gift for the women in our church congregation. To which he replied, "Don't they want flowers?" I laughed again because in my mind it's not even question which would be my gift of choice.
It's rare to find such large quanitities of chocolate on sale since most bars are normally a dollar each. But two year's in a row I've struck pay dirt, either through luck or divine intervention. Perhaps chocolate really is the food of the gods. :)
So while the man at the grocery store can be relieved that I'm not going home to have a giant candy binge, I wouldn't mind diving in to some of these on Mother's Day morning.
I told Andy that I'd like to put in a request for one of the red bars - dark chocolate, please. After all, this task was actually assigned to him, but for the second year in a row, it's been delegated to me since my Mother's Day pick last year was such a hit:

What about you, mother or not - chocolate or flowers?

Oh to be back in the Hilliard ward. So much goodness. Miss you.
and to the cashier, "how else do you think I maintain my girlish figure?"
I spent most of last night at mutual, cutting ribbon, folding paper, and tying bows around the gifts for our ward's Mother's Day. We just got a new bishopric and apparently they are going from super fancy store brownies down to Hershey's bars. The wives are worried there might be a lot of disappointed ladies out there...
Just had this conversation this morning. Definitely the chocolate. Although I am super pleased with our ward's plan...loaf of Great Harvest bread!
I am SO with you on the chocolate! flowers die WAY too quickly.:)
Last year our ward gave the sisters a scripture marking pencil and the men (Father's day) got a Hershey's bar. !!!! Clearly they had their priorities off.
I'm a sucker for flowers, but not the wilting single pink carnation we got handed a few years back. Give me the Dove bar any day. Dark chocolate, please.
Wow, those chocolate waffles look to-die-for. I will have to put in an order for those next mother's day.
