What We've Been Up To Lately

Painting/coloring on every scrap of paper and inch of skin in sight. Today it was permanent marker and sidewalk chalk all over himself. That baby loves to exert his creative juices.

Half-hearted attempts at potty traning. This is him transfixed in front of the TV with his hand in warm water. Ben is totally uninterested in going and Andy's mom gave it a try, but every time he holds it while he's on the pot and lets it loose as soon as he gets off. Oy vey.

Wearing his fashionable Thomas the Train slippers everywhere we go. We have major shoe issues, trying on every pair he owns multiple times daily. So now I don't care what he wears.

Enjoying the gorgeous weather. He wanted to wear his blue hat because Auntie Char was wearing her blue hat. Ben says that Auntie Char is his best friend.

Andy is going to kill me for posting this, but this was taken today at 6 a.m. as Andy was getting out to take his first roadbiking trip. He has some friends who are roadbikers and borrowed a friend's bike to give it a try. I think I need to take up an expensive hobby to even things out. :)

This is a game Ben invented tonight after dinner. He carefully lined up books and hopped across each one.

Since Ben learned to do Cheers, every occasion is a special one.

Yeah baby, springtime is the beginning of ice cream season. We love Handel's!

Grocery shopping in our playroom.
Waiting on the front step for Andy to come home (this is a common sight between 5:30 and 6 p.m. at our house). Yes, that is a corn cob in Ben's hand.

I can't think of anything clever because all I can think is I love that baby! Oh yeah, and how can I get Ben to start naming me as his best friend! Curses Auntie Char. Potty training, so funny. Ben waiting for his papa, so precious. I love that baby!

such a cute kid! i'm jealous-- he waits for his dad between 5:30 and 6? if my girls waited on the porch for their dad, it would be between 1:30 and 2 am! not yanking them out of their bed for THAT one! YIKES!

Oh man, I miss you guys.

We are in the midst of potty-training trauma, too. I'm praying for an end in sight... I don't know how long I can deal with handling all these bodily excretions without losing it. :)

Andy looks like he's shed some pounds. Is he still running?

You DEFINITELY need to take up an expensive hobby to even things out. :)

Spencer went through a stubborn phase of choosing his clothes too. I responded the same way you are. Good news is that Spencer is over it. He doesn't even remember he has that 2T superman shirt anymore.

Good luck potty training!

PS I read an article all about Adi a year a go or so. Sadly, I've never been there, AND, sadder, there are no fun grocery stores here. Not even Trader Joe's. Not even Market Basket.

Ben waiting for dad is SO cute! I would frame that one and put it in Andy's office. It took us 4 different attempts and about 6 months to potty train Kasidee. I feel your pain. We even put a tv in the bathroom so she could watch movies in the bathroom. Good luck.

The weather is better, but not great yet. Where did you get that cool play food? Another good game with books it to make dominoes out of them and knock them all down. I am working on potty training Ashlyn. Gotta love being a mom!!!

Don't you just love it when the kids go wild with permanent markers? Never have I been so close to swearing during parenthood as when I've turned the corner to see kids+permanent markers. Actually, that's not true. I've potty trained 2 1/2 kids. Apparently you understand this woe as well.
