Dan In Real Life

Andy and I watched this again last night and remembered how much we liked it. Steve Carell is so funny (we are big fans of The Office). But this time we also realized how much we love the soundtrack. It reminded me alot of the music from About a Boy, another fave. The person who wrote and performed most of the songs is a Norweigan named Sondre Lerche who is an amazing guitarist. It's very chill music and we downloaded the entire album off iTunes today. Check it out, if you're looking for something new. We particularly like "My Hands are Shaking," "To Be Surprised," and "Let My Love Open the Door." Let me know what you think.

I really liked this movie, too. And Sondre Lerche is also good. I'm far from an avid fan, but I remember first hearing him in ought-four, the Summer of Garden State (and thus the summer of my discovering a lot of new music).

Other musicians I discovered that summer:
-Ray LaMontagne (Trouble has been one of my favorite albums since)
-Snow Patrol (who doesn't like Chocolate?)
-The Shins (duh)
-Damien Rice (love The Blower's Daughter)
etc. etc.

What'd you think of the music from Juno? Quirky, obviously, but I like that, too. Funny how music triggers memories, though. As soon as I heard the song "Anyone Else But You", that Juno and Bleeker play at the end, I knew I'd heard it before. After a few hours of brainracking, I realized that I saw the now-defunct band The Moldy Peaches in concert (former member Kimya Dawons wrote most of the Juno soundtrack songs). They opened for Tenacious D (Jack Black's band), who I saw in a teeny little bar in New Hampshire in 2001. Pretty random how six years later I would remember hearing (and liking) that song, since as far as I know I only ever heard it once.

That is the end of my music rant. It's longer than your original post. Ha!

Hey Nollie, it's funny because Dan and I saw that in the theater and on the way home we were talking about how we liked the music. Dan downloaded the soundtrack when we got home. We are also fans of Badly Drawn Boy.

Michael and I really want to see Dan in Real Life. We've heard it's great . . . so maybe when he stops working until 2 in the morning and starts his vacation before HBS!!!!!! begins on September 2nd, then we can watch a movie together.

Until then . . . I'll keep blog stalking at night while Michael is busy at the office.

It really is great to be able to keep up with you guys. I miss you tons.

I just watched this today and I too am in love with the soundtrack and Sondre Lerche! Also, for the record, he is a handsome, albeit quirky-looking, devil .
