5-8 p.m. - Had four other families over to share scones and sausages, a Haws Family Christmas Eve tradition. I'm not a fried food fan, but the turned out great, thanks to Andy the chef. The adults played a rousing game of Cranium while the kids romped upstairs. For the record, the girls won. Unfortunately, Andy and I both missed questions where we had to spell words backward. So much for being the 4th grade Tri-Cities spelling bee champ. Sadly, I didn't get any pictures of that part of the night.
8:30 p.m. - Read "The Grinch Who Stole Christmas," the Christmas story from Luke 2, sang a few songs around the Christmas tree and put Ben to bed.
9 p.m. - Andy goes to to work assembling the train table. Note that he is looking at the instructions. Following them was another matter.
9:45 - Andy takes a water break to reenergize for the task ahead.
10:30 p.m. - We eat the Twix out of my stocking as a celebration that the train table is almost done.
11 p.m. Presents under the tree, stockings stuffed, and table finished. We then proceed to each open two of our presents from under the tree since Ben won't care what we get on Christmas morning.
Our stocking stuffers - The toothbrushes are a Haws thing and the fruit is a Dockum thing. Growing up, my siblings and I always got a bottle of Nalley's kosher baby dill pickles and I got a whole pineapple. Just for the record, it's very anticlimactic stuffing your own stocking.

I will now only call you Dobby and Kreacher. Andy is Kreacher for obvious reasons. Yeah I said it.
I love this post. And I love it even more because guess what Madi asked for for Christmas? A train. It's the only thing she wanted, and she asked for it for weeks. They are still so in tune with each other... Madi with the train and Ben with the train table. I love that you a. stuffed your own stocking, and b. cracked into it at 11pm. :) So funny. If we lived in Columbus, we could have gotten together to assemble the toys. Sigh. Maybe one day.
